ACAL Energy Completes Funding Round

£3.5 million Raised in First Close

Cheshire, UK – May 19 2010 – ACAL Energy, the developer of affordable and reliable Fuel Cell Engines based on platinum free FlowCath® technology, has completed a funding round worth £3.5 million that will provide a strong boost to the development of its core FlowCath® technology.  Additional investment funds are expected in a second close later this summer.

NIST Ranks Warwick Warp amongst World Leaders for Fingerprint Accuracy

Warwick Warp Ltd, a UK-based developer of novel fingerprint recognition technology is pleased to announce that it has achieved the fourth highest rank in an evaluation of fingerprint matching systems conducted by the US government’s National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). The National Institute of Standards and Technology's Proprietary Fingerprint Template (PFT) evaluation is an ongoing program to measure the performance of fingerprint matching software by utilising vendor proprietary fingerprint templates.   It is relied upon worldwide as the definitive measure of the effectiveness of fingerprint matching performance for specifiers of large scale biometric recognition systems.

Dr J Byron McCormick Joins ACAL Board of Director

Well-known Fuel Cell Expert Appointed Non-Executive Director

Cheshire, UK – May 11th 2010 – ACAL Energy, the developer of affordable and reliable Fuel Cell Engines based on platinum free FlowCath® technology, announced today the appointment of Dr. J. Byron McCormick to its Board of Directors. Byron is well known in the automotive industry, bringing with him 35 years of basic research, product development, manufacturing and operations experience, the last 25 years of which have been in advanced automotive systems, electric vehicle propulsion systems, fuel cells and hydrogen.  Most recently he was Executive Director of General Motors’ fuel cell car development team, which at one time comprised up to 1,500 engineers, technicians and support staff.  He has also been a member of the U.S. Energy Department's Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee.

US Patent covering Amplification Consumables granted to Enigma Diagnostics Ltd

Oxford, UK and San Diego, US – Enigma Diagnostics Limited, the decentralised and point-of-care molecular diagnostics company, announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted U.S. Patent No. 7,659,096 with claims that cover the use of amplification consumables in several current real-time and end point PCR instruments. The consumables incorporate a thermally conducting layer and reaction wells in combination with a reaction mixture and a blocking agent. Enigma Diagnostics Ltd is the exclusive licensee of this patent from the UK Defence Science Technology Laboratory.
